Owner & Founder, M.Ed., BCBA

Alicia Varney, M.Ed., BCBA is the Founder and Owner of NextStep Behavioral Services, created to support children and families with thoughtful, compassionate, and individualized care. With over 20 years of experience as a special education teacher and Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Alicia brings a deep understanding of both learning and behavior across home, school, center and community settings. She founded NextStep in September 2025 with the belief that every child deserves to be met where they are, supported by a team that truly listens, collaborates, and focuses on meaningful progress. Alicia is passionate about building strong relationships with families, empowering staff, and providing high-quality, evidence-based services that help children gain confidence, independence, and skills that carry into everyday life.

Kelly O'Neil

Kelly O'Neil

BCBA, CAGS, LABA

Kelly O'Neil, CAGS, BCBA, LABA, is a doctoral student in Counseling and School Psychology (Psy.D.) at Rivier University with over 17 years of experience supporting children and families. Her greatest accomplishment is raising four respectful, responsible, and kind young men, an experience that deeply shaped her professional path. When one of her children was diagnosed with autism, learning everything possible to support him became a passion that continues today, even as he has grown into a college-educated, independent adult. This journey expanded her work beyond autism to include mental health, cognitive functioning, and emotional well-being, with a focus on helping the whole person. She is currently pursuing advanced training in counseling and neuropsychological assessment to deepen this integrative approach. In her spare time, Kelly enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her dog, as well as drawing and traveling.

Hi! I'm Kayla, a full-time special education teacher and future BCBA with three years of teaching experience and over five years working in Human Services. I recently earned my master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, which is my greatest professional achievement. Prior to teaching, I worked with adults and young adults with developmental disabilities, autism, and substance use disorders. I am passionate about meeting students where they are, celebrating small wins that lead to meaningful growth, and empowering learners to feel capable and confident in their education. In my free time, I love reading all types of novels, especially classic literature like Jane Austen. I also enjoy traveling, with cruises to warm destinations like the Caribbean being a personal favorite.

My name is Chrissy Eichhorn, and I am a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) with seven years of experience in the field. I am currently working toward my master's degree in Behavior Analysis. I found my way into this field unexpectedly, but quickly fell in love with the work after seeing the incredible progress one of my first clients made. Moments like that continue to inspire my passion for helping clients grow and succeed. Outside of work, I enjoy creating art and hold an associate's degree in Fine Arts. I love spending time with my friends and family and traveling internationally to explore new cultures and experiences.

Christina Philbrick is a registered behavior technician from Kittery, Maine. She studied Special Education and Theatre at the University of New Hampshire, and has worked with children of all abilities for over 15 years. Christina has also worked professionally as a musical theatre performer and Irish step dancer. She is passionate about arts integration, promoting inclusion, and providing neurodiversity affirming care to her clients!

My name is Jaeson Scott, and I am a Registered Behavior Technician with three years of experience working with children and adolescents in school, clinic, and home settings. I enjoy helping kids learn social and life skills in ways that feel fun, supportive, and meaningful to them. I believe every child deserves to feel understood, respected, and confident in their abilities, and I strive to be a positive and encouraging role model for my clients. I am currently a clinical psychology student at UMass Lowell with plans to continue into a graduate program in social work. Outside of work, I love playing board games, often finding ways to bring them into sessions as a fun way to learn new skills. I also enjoy spending a lot of time outdoors doing activities such as rock climbing, hiking, and kayaking!

Hi, I'm Sam! I'm a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with nearly 11 years of experience in Applied Behavior Analysis and 3 years of teaching Special Education. I truly love this field and am passionate about being the person who gets to say "yes" to clients and families who have heard "no" far too often. One of the most rewarding parts of my work has been leading community-based social skills groups, supporting teenagers as they explore places their families never imagined possible—like the beach, amusement parks, and movie theaters. Outside of work, I enjoy trying new restaurants, cooking, reading, and traveling with my family. I'm excited to connect and get to know all of you!

Jess Juchnowski

Jess Juchnowski is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) who has worked in behavior analysis since 2016 across home, school, and clinic settings. She began her career as a behavior therapist and has been practicing as a BCBA since 2019. Her background also includes work as an outpatient mental health provider in community-based and group home settings, informing her integrative and trauma-informed approach to care. Jess holds a master's degree in Behavior Analysis from Simmons University and is currently pursuing doctoral studies at The Chicago School. Her professional and academic interests include staff development, trauma-informed care, and self-care. She is passionate about supporting ethical, sustainable practices that promote strong client outcomes while fostering practitioner well-being and ongoing professional growth among staff. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, spending time outdoors with her husband, and relaxing at home with her two cats.

A foster mom and lifelong advocate, Hayley is inspired daily by her brother who has Down syndrome, motivating her to lead with compassion, perseverance, and heart. Outside of work, she enjoys reading and spending time at the beach.

Hey there, I'm Logan—a Behavioral Health Professional with a passion for supporting children, adolescents, and families navigating autism spectrum disorders, oppositional behaviors, and mental health challenges. My journey in the field began as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), where I provided both school-based and in-home support using evidence-based practices rooted in ABA. I later stepped into the role of Child and Family Visitation Supervisor at a nonprofit serving mothers in recovery—teaching parenting classes, coordinating with DCYF, and advocating for families in court. I specialize in building trust with even the most resistant clients. Colleagues have often called me a "Kid Whisperer"—a reflection of my ability to connect through humor, structure, and trauma-informed care that helps kids feel safe, seen, and supported. Currently, I'm pursuing my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with the goal of becoming a licensed therapist focused on children and young adults. Outside of work, you'll usually find me immersed in reading philosophy, writing, and exploring the patterns woven through myth, history, and human behavior—always driven by the same mission: to help others rise, even when the odds are stacked against them.

I am currently pursuing my Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis and hold a Bachelor's degree in Human Services. I am also entering my third year as a Safety-Care Trainer. My passion for this field has grown through witnessing clients develop new skills and achieve meaningful goals. Outside of work, I enjoy swimming, listening to music, and traveling with my daughter.

Sarah Leggett is an experienced educator with over 20 years of work in education, including extensive experience supporting foreign exchange students. Born and raised in Minnesota, she pursued her college education in Wisconsin and has since lived and worked across the country, including in Las Vegas, San Diego, North Dakota, and now New Hampshire. Her diverse personal and professional journey has shaped her adaptable, student-centered approach to education. Sarah has been recognized for her commitment and impact, receiving the Clark County School District Service Award for Exemplary Service. She also served as an Inclusive Schools Project Liaison for the Clark County School District in Las Vegas, where she supported inclusive practices and advocacy for diverse student populations. At the heart of Sarah's work is a deep passion for supporting students—particularly those who may not always have a voice for themselves. She finds the greatest fulfillment in helping students develop agency, confidence, and independence. Outside of her professional life, Sarah values travel, a strong work ethic, and time with her daughters, Ava and Olivia.

My name is Cassandra Nimblett but go by Cassie. I am a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) with 8 years as an RBT. Cool fact, I am the longest RBT in the state of New Hampshire. I started working as an LNA with children with Disabilities and fell in love working with the children. After I went on to being an RBT, I loved it more. My clients are the reason I keep doing this job. In my spare time, I love to hang out with my daughter, family, and friends. I believe family is everything. I am excited to be part of the NextStep Family and can't wait to see what the future holds here.

Katie is the HR Coordinator at NextStep Behavioral Services, bringing nearly 15 years of managerial experience supporting employees in dynamic workplace environments. She has found her true niche in guiding and supporting staff throughout every stage of their employment journey. Whether assisting with paperwork, offering guidance, or simply being a sounding board, Katie is passionate about helping team members grow, thrive, and feel supported. She finds the greatest fulfillment in teaching new skills that empower others to improve and become the best version of themselves. Family and friends mean the world to Katie, and she values the relationships that keep her grounded and inspired. Outside of work, she enjoys getting lost in a great book and spending time at the beach.

Edward Quigley serves as the Chief Technology Officer at NextStep Behavioral Services, supporting in-school and clinic-based teams with secure and efficient technology systems. He is motivated by using technology to improve day-to-day operations and protect client information while making staff workflows easier. Edward enjoys tackling complex technical challenges and continuously learning about cybersecurity and system design. Outside of work, he has a strong interest in aviation, engineering, and hands-on technical projects.
